Whether you’re taking your kids to a daycare center in Lantana, Florida, your relative’s house, or to a nearby park, you probably use your car to get to your destination as fast as possible. When traveling with kids, you must first consider their safety and comfort. One way of doing this is to ensure that they’re buckled up at all times.

Here are five seat belt safety tips to ensure your children are safe while traveling:

  • Always wear a seat belt. A safety belt should be on all the time, no matter how near the destination is.
  • Wear the seat belt properly. Make sure that your child fastens both lap and shoulder belts. The lap belt should be placed across the upper part of the hips. Meanwhile, the shoulder belt should be fit on across the chest and shoulder.
  • Do not share a seat belt. It may seem fun and cute, however, two kids should never share a single safety belt.
  • Avoid the front seat. Kids aged 12 years old and younger have to sit in the back seat of the car. This is because, in case of emergency, air bags can seriously hurt a small child.
  • Use the right car seat. Preschoolers should use a forward-facing car seat with a harness for a safe and secure ride.

Sunshine Park Academy, a childcare provider in Lantana, Florida, is committed to increasing seat belt safety use among young children.
